This reflection on lessons learnt on performance management will help me handle future problems in team work and group practices. I have analysed the mistake we make this time, and reflected on the same. This will serve as a reminder to myself next time in the group work, and would help me improve performance.

Firstly, we did not have a team leader which was a huge mistake. No one handled and coordinated works, and this led to the final presentation being pushed to the last minute. Time and progress monitoring is very important for a group work. We have to have a draft before the due date and then have the time to discuss and check the work we did as a whole. Having a leader coordinate these efforts would have been much more helpful. My group managed this assessment as an individual essay, and there was no time to double check by peer assessments for improving our work.

In future, when we formed together as a group, we should set up a challenging goal that we all agree to work towards and we should also decide the amount of effort each one has to put in. For example, let us say we want a distinction, then we have to come out a plan to reach the goal. My team did well on the communication through messenger, but it was not enough. We have to have a team leader to manage our performance and set up a timeline for each stage. We need to understand and know the other individual’s part as a whole and not only manage our own work. In future, I will ensure that I am at least aware of what the others do and coordinate accordingly.
