“We live our brand and that’s why we have great customer service – yeah we have the structures and the usual stuff that goes with organization but it’s the people and the feelings that make us who we are” (Case Study 6, Final Paragraph). The case study selected for analysis is case study 6, Flying High at Pancontinental Airways. People and feelings do drive the Pancontinental airways. The case study highlights an excellent leadership and followership example. The organizational culture is one that attempts to create a fun presence where everybody could stay integrated and happy. The recruitment policy ingrained by the MD is one that assures people who are right for the culture meaning that talent is sought and not just trained. The leader MD Callahan brings these practices into the workplace because of is own experiential knowledge working with the company. The result of all these efforts are that the employees are more like a family and there is very less turnover in the company which is a good thing for company morale, operational expenses and others. The essay discusses two main questions using the case study of the Pancontinental Airways, which are as follows.
1) Firstly, the key components of the relationship between leaders and followers in Pancontinental Airways are discussed.
2) Secondly, the ways in which Pancontinental Airway Leadership has resulted in improved organizational performance are discussed.
