In order to explain the concept of circular economy, case study of a flooring company has been selected namely, Desso as well as Google Data Centre case has been selected. This company has been a leading pioneer for the approach of cradle to cradle. The organization has continued in innovating around principles of circular economy, the nature of which will be explored. From the analysis gained in the case study, various recommendations will be offered to the company in discussion.
The advantages of a circular economy are both strategic and operational on level of micro as well as macroeconomic. This opportunity is considered to be of trillion dollars implying large potential of innovation along with creation of jobs/employment and growth within the economy.
The past 15 decades of industrial changes have had dominance of one-way or model of linear for consumption and production wherein the products are produced with the use of raw materials, used, sold and eventually discarded as waste (Graff, 2016). The need for the newer model of economy is high due to the rapid volatility increase throughout the economy of the globe and signs of proliferating of depletion in resources.
The need of considerable improvisations within the resource performance throughout the economy have resulted organizations to find manner in which products can be reused or the associated components and restoration of increased amount of material that is precious, inputs of labor and energy (Rana et al., 2016). Economy of circular is considered to be industrial system which is regenerative or restorative through its design and intention. Material worth over one trillion dollar will be saved by transitioning to the new model of business which will result in significant economic benefit.
