There is no specific requirement in the drafting stage and thus I was free to let my ideas take shape on a computer screen. The preparation of the draft is followed by the outline which is also another important process in designing a comic strip. The SAI software has a dedicated tool for line art which allows making outlining an easy task. The benefits of using SAI for the designing process include the minimization of stress while making the outline, automatic smoothing and the ability adjust imperfections due to pressure lines. Pressure lines are the highlighted lines which are the resultant of high pressure during drawing.
The next step involves colouring which is intended for the majority of the storyboard except the main grid. The main grid is considered for changes in Photoshop to convert the drawings into a comic strip. The original draft file prepared using the SAI software is converted to a .PSD file. The process of converting a SAI file into a Photoshop file is utterly simple. All I had to do was click on ‘File’, then ‘Save As’. When the option for selecting a file name arrived, I just changed the name of the file extension to .PSD which saved the image file as a Photoshop image file. After completing this step, you can access the draft images in Photoshop and complete the desired processes. The use of Photoshop converts the images into Gif formats which are visually attractive. The gif format pictures are derived from various reproductions of similar sketches which are combined in Photoshop to deliver comic strips with moving characters and dynamic speaker bubbles.
The process of research used for fabrication of stories which depict the definition and nature of heroism involved academic research. Various articles and journals on the concepts of heroism, examples of heroism in history as well as the contemporary world and credible use of comic strips are some of the processes included for depicting the theoretical aspect of heroism. The process of using new photo editing software such as SAI helped me in gaining additional information on image editing and offered respite from the complexities of other image editing software (Theeboom, Beersma & van, 2014).
