However, they addressed the issue partially by explaining that not all the businesses are merely focused on increasing brand reputation and profitability rather they are focused on developing a safe working environment for the people and protect the society from the harmful impact of the business activities. According to them, successful business organisations require a healthy society. Healthcare, education and equal opportunity are important for an industrious workforce. Efficient use of water, land, energy and other environmental resources make the commerce more industrious. Strong regulations imposed by the government not only protect the consumers and the society but also protect the business from corruption. A positive corporate social program moves from extenuating damage to strengthening corporate tactic through social growth. Here, it must remember that it is not possible for any firm to solve all the social issues and bear the budget of doing so. Therefore, every business must choose a specific social issue that overlaps with the business. Business must choose a CSR issue to be resolves that offers an opportunity to generate common value for the society and for the firm too.

However, none of them has neglected the essentiality of business firms to be responsible to their society, where they operate. The normative theory stipulates that a single firm can be aimed at gaining wealth and customer satisfaction, but not all the businesses have the same aim. The current development of the social life in different areas of the world would not have been possible if business firms were not there. The approach of Porter & Kramar explains that every firm must choose its CSR wisely so that it can benefit both the business and the broader community.
