Employment conditions are one of the most varied and disparity driven enterprise. The developed country employment conditions are something that is not required to be identically duplicated in the developing countries, because the working conditions of the developed countries are not a guarantee for being the best. The extent to which the working conditions of the developed countries can be duplicated in less developed nations is dependent on the political will and corporations’ urge to replicate the same (Offshoring and working conditions in remote work, 2010). Some nations like Bangladesh, as seen in the case, continue to work in the worst conditions because profit was the sole motive and workers counted as cheaper means.
Government framework of minimum standards of working conditions must be used to reframe the actual working conditions. Knowledge sharing between the nations can eliminate the issues and the developing countries can upgrade the working conditions. This enhances productivity, increases per capital income, the product quality also becomes good, and uneven distribution of wealth is restricted to a great extent.
If the report suggests that Australian consumers are willing to pay more for the product, if it meant that the working conditions of manufacturing workers are to be improved, then it is fair to suggest that the cost price leadership model must be adopted. If the consumers are willing to support the working conditions dilemma to improve, there remain fewer hurdles in increasing the price of products on a periodic basis (Hartman, 2002). However, this price must be increased only on the basis that the extra profit is going back to improvise the workers conditions.
The CEO and the CMO could be convinced by directing them to the benefits of the move, which includes a complete image overhaul for the company, becoming socially responsible and at the same time making substantial profits. The marketing manager could be convinced by informing him about the attractiveness of the marketing process if such initiatives of working conditions improvement are also highlighted. This can bring a higher brand recall, and also help the company to regain significant market share.
