Demonstrating extensive knowledge of human science and health assessment: This is essential as Marie is playing multiple roles in her life such as a mother, wife and daughter so a midwifery should understand her mental condition which is possible only if she (midwifery) has sound knowledge of human science and then only she will be able to assess mental and physical health of Marie and then treat her accordingly. Midwifery nurse should understand the nature and problems of Marie before counseling her or taking care of her (Creamer, 2001). It includes examination of physical, mental health, social, ethnic and cultural background of Marie by midwifery to treat her effectively. Consistent and Accurate interpretation of information about the patient: A midwifery should take consistent and accurate steps in interpreting the information about Marie’s life history, As her mother had a problem of depression when Marie was a teenager, physical findings such as Marie has lost interest in everything and she even has lost weight as she doesn’t feel like eating (Lee, 2005). By collecting such data about Marie, midwifery can easily diagnose Marie’s normal, risky and abnormal states of mind and can counsel her accordingly. She can even evaluate the effects of social determinants on the mental state of Marie as she has stopped enjoying with her friends also in soccer club.
