The plots of the films are inclined to focus mainly on the central character with proper well demarcated psychological personality. Their wishes encourage the action, thus setting off a number of activities and their after effects in the film. According to Bordwell, this personality is “character-centred causality” (Canby, 1988). In majority of the movie plots, the main or the central character is looking for something important that he or she will get after overcoming a number of obstructions. Whatever may be the thing that the central character is looking for, he or she will have limited time within which the thing has to be acquired. This limitation of time or deadline actually boosts the dramatic power of the Hollywood films. Two different lines of acts usually blend together in the Hollywood’s movies, of which one involves the communal world (politics, or arts or may be success in job, etc.) and the other one involves love among couple who are heterosexual. According to Bordwell, it is the “heterosexual imperative” of the films of Hollywood. In general, both the lines of acts are intertwined in a sophisticated manner, as in situation when man willing to succeed in business engages in love with the daughter of his boss. In contradiction, the Hollywood films might not have happy endings as thought by the viewers. On the other hand, the plot of the film always has a proper conclusion with all the loose ends properly tied up. The entire questions that were raised by the plot will be answered and the mystery created by the plot will be solved. In most of the films made by Hollywood, the endings might appear more or less inevitable, a perfect outcome of what has been waited for, given the undoubtedly well demarcated persona of the main protagonists (Bordwell, 2008).
