All across history, establishment in communication and technology have ended up going hand in hand, and the latest developments of technology like the internet have lead towards advancing communication to a completely different level. Journalism can be identified as the conscious and deliberate efforts of gathering information, analysing and collating data for entertaining, educating and informing the public to make appropriate decisions (Lee and Ma, 2012). Journalism also focuses to report and investigate trends, issues and events to large group of audience. Social media has ended up becoming the lexicon of journalism, and it appears to source information while overtaking self-promotion as the primary activity of the society (Waters et al., 2010). While there has been a sophisticated growth of using social media in journalism, some of the journalists show less positivity regarding the ways in which social media impacts the activities of journalism. This enhances engagement, productivity and quality of the news being shared.
