As far as the development of housing facilities is concerned The Housing Accord and Special Housing Areas Act 2013 (HASHAA) is particularly design to improve the housing facilities for the existing residents of the city and also to accommodate the inflow of migrating labor force from other areas of the country to Aukland. The project is initited to fast track the process of affordability and supply of residential facilities. To urbanize lands for housing purposes the plan encourages applications for privately initiated variations. The zoning of identified areas can also be encouraged if it is feasible and desirable. No decision can be made by the authority which is unbeneficial or inconsistent with the operative privately initiated variation. In order to assist the supply of housing land the council special housing areas are developed along with flexibility for many plan variations. HASHAA will ensure fast tracking of the process which will considerably reduce the time required to usually make the land available to serve housing needs of the residents of Aukland which will be a big achievement for the unitary plan.
