In these critical reviews, I will discuss the research study carried out by Yazdanpanah (2015). The study focuses on the scope of the teacher’s knowledge by exploring the kinds of methods the teachers undertake to teach the language. The course outline in ESL has a number of teacher training methods that can be employed. In this research, data was collected from 108 teachers from six states within Australia. The results of this research were that there are seven major factors associated with knowledge. Teachers focussed on the knowledge of teaching rather than the actual knowledge of the language.

The reason for undertaking the research was to understand the relationships and the gaps in teaching English knowledge and the practical applications of the same language. It has been contended that there are some gaps in knowledge when it is practically applied. The aim of the research is to understand about the important variables that the students would need to sustain and thrive in an English speaking country.

This method of using existing data and data analysis is considered to be secondary research. The data can be easily obtained in the secondary research and is less time consuming than primary research. The issue with this research methodology is that the researcher cannot find out specific solutions for their individual queries. Secondary research is used when the primary research information is not available. This is the research design of this particular analysis. The results of the previous research data i.e. the secondary research data was analysed with the primary research data in this research design. From this the researcher has formed results and conclusions.

In the following analysis, I will discuss the sampling, data collection, data analysis and the conclusions that are drawn from the data analysis. The benefits and limitations of each aspect of this research design will also be addressed.
