I personally believe at the University of California, an ideal candidate would require being an all – rounder. Along with academic inclination, a strong candidate needs to be of strong character and be a good human. The experience I gained through my voluntary work was a humbling one and made me appreciate the smaller aspects of life. I can proudly say that this experience made me a better human being. I learnt to be self – sufficient and not depend on others to get any work done. There is no end to learning. With each new challenge that I faced, it helped to build my personality and character. Wisdom cannot be a mere product obtained at school but requires a lifetime attempt for acquiring it (Ross 12-17) and the voluntary work that I was part of taught me new things every day. I became more confident as I was involved in something new that gave me a sense of accomplishment. In my small way, I was able to make a slight difference and positively reach to people, acquire new skills, face challenges and have fun all the way. These attributes contribute to my personality and make me a suitable candidate for the University according to me.
