Masculine and feminine identity
Women, being adept with the home and children’s welfare and upbringing, are usually being taught the same thing, and this is because such pre-conceived beliefs about women’s identities are popular and most people follow without questioning. So the imposition of such an identity while a woman child grows during her childhood can be attributed to the old customary belief about woman in many religions and cultures around the world. Thus, the femininity of women is being given a direction of home and children welfare even though they are capable of doing some other tasks often considered to be manly if given a chance. This is evident by the situations where culture defines the role of women and men and they are mandated the titles of feminine and masculine . This implies that the identity being developed for men and women are imposed upon them and they do not carry or develop their own identity which they can relate to and accordingly act in their life. This infers that stereotypes of gender roles are able to rule our life throughout existence through its mandates given of feminine and masculine. The search of an identity then becomes blurred in life until a person or the women need to search beyond the identity given or imposed upon her. This happens when there is a circumstance when the women is required to be something more than what all other women are, and when she is being seen as a leader or a guide to other women. In such cases, she actually digs deeper inside her and searches for a new identity or the real identity that she deserves or is capable of doing. Thus, the individual identity is first given by the birth itself and is imposed on the women by her parents and family, but after a juncture in her life, she is supposedly made to think about her desire for searching her real identity in situations which demands her to search and be more than what she is visibly seen.
