The 1st generation ADAT recorders were known as ‘Blackface’. This had recorded 16 bits per sample. The later generations supported 20 buts per sample however they were backward compatible with the recordings from the 1st generation. The ADAT has been discontinued in 2003 and newer versions such as ADAT HD24 are developed from the hard-drive based recorder. Even though there were many benefits that were developed from the ADAT machines, it was observed some issues or gaps in implementation as well. The ADAT has some software bugs that make the issues of sound seem prominent. The issues in mixing of the sound and sometimes these issues created the error were even more prominent. The machine was faulty in the sense where the songs and some bits of the sound were reduced. These made the producers mad and they had backed up two or three times. The tool had special significance for the creation of the album. This was owing to the fact that the music that was created for the album was simply recorded with minimal editing. The creation of the songs was also done in a fast manner (Shuker, 2016). These had created the persona for the song and set the mood of the album. The tool was an integral element for the song to gain precedence. In this schema, this technology that was used by Ballard was gradually changed to other kinds of music. There was the ability to tune up the vocals with the Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) and the advent of software. These made the people to look for alterative technology.
