Tyler was extremely stringent in his moral actions and put forth his views that he is against the acceptance of bullying, intimidation, and threat of legal action in terms of taking away the first amendment right to provide views against the wrongdoing. In terms of the downfall of Theranos, it was observed that the position and the reputation of the company declined mainly due to four reasons. Firstly, it was assumed that big names have taken a hit on Theranos; secondly, the CEO of Theranos stifled the bad news; thirdly, a sharp blow was felt by Theranos after Elizabeth Holmes has been banned from being one of the operating labs; and lastly, the craving of the company for growth thereby making Walgreens dismiss all the doubts about Theranos (Wrigley and Priaulx, 2013).
Such an act was possible not only due to the organizational commitment of Tyler to expose the company in terms of their trading secrets but also position the company in a favorable situation. Organizational commitment is the bond which is experienced by the employees within their organization. It was observed that employees are extremely committed towards their organization and they feel the connection and the bond with their organization. With respect to Tyler, it was observed that he had no connection or feeling of belongingness with the company which made him expose the activities of Theranos.
With the help of the above information, it can be put forth that Tyler was not morally required to whistle blow, but somehow he thought that it is his moral duty to reveal the functioning of the company thereby making all the other employees working in company cautioned and protected (Robert et al., 2015).In terms of justifying the position of Tyler Shultz, it can be stated that certain ethical theories can be utilized in order to better understand the actions and moral obligation of Tyler Shultz (Oxley, 2011). Three of the ethical theories will be utilized, which are Deontology, Utilitarianism, and Ethics versus Law.
